Education Fund: Helping Students

Education is a proven, powerful tool enabling youth to reach their full potential.

Through the efforts of many people, $1.8 million has been raised for the Westland Foundation Education Fund. Board members and volunteers are now working to raise an additional $5 million.

All funds raised have been and will continue to be endowed with the Foundation's four partners, Red River College, University of Manitoba, University of Winnipeg and The Winnipeg Foundation.

Generally, the value of a scholarship has been based on each mark of 80% and higher that a student received at the end of each school year in Grades 7 through 12, in Inner Winnipeg schools.

However, as the Education Fund endowments grow, the scholarship programs at the three post-secondary institutions will likely expand to include marks of 70 and higher; and scholarships toward second year tuition fees are being considered.

The ultimate goal at each of the three post-secondary institutions is to provide Westland Foundation scholarships toward tuition fees that will carry a student throughout their undergraduate years.

All goals reached are based on the fundraising efforts of the Westland Foundation board members and volunteers.

The Westland Foundation Education Fund is committed to creating post-secondary scholarships for Inner Winnipeg students. It plans on serving the community for the next 100 years and beyond.
