Education Fund: Helping Students
Education is a proven, powerful tool enabling youth to reach their full potential.
The Fund
Through the efforts of many people, $1 million has been raised for the Westland Foundation Education Fund.
The funds raised have been endowed with the Foundation's four partners, Red River College, University of Manitoba, University of Winnipeg and the Winnipeg Foundation.
In 2008, Westland Foundation began awarding scholarships at Red River College.
Board Members and other volunteers are currently focused on raising an additional $5 million. This will allow the scholarship program to commence at both the University of Manitoba and the University of Winnipeg.
The Students
The value of a scholarship is based on the "A" grades (80%+) that a student receives at the end of each year in Grades 7 through 12 (S4), in Inner Winnipeg schools.
As the Education Fund grows, the focus will expand to provide scholarships to cover a student's entire first-year tuition fees.
Ultimately, the goal is to provide scholarships that will carry a student throughout their undergraduate years of study.
The Westland Foundation Education Fund is committed to creating post-secondary scholarships for Inner Winnipeg students. It plans on serving the community for the next 100 years and beyond.
